“Quantum mechanics is certainly imposing. But an inner voice tells me that it is not yet the real thing. The theory says a lot, but does not really bring us any closer to the secret of the 'old one.' I, at any rate, am convinced that He does not throw dice.”

Albert Einstein in his letter to Max Born

A new short story just dropped and can be found here

This is probably my best attempt at a Black Mirror or Twilight Zone style classic scifi horror short story. Its set in the same universe as the rest of my tales but is a modern story, and sets up some themes and concepts for the rest of the work that mostly happens in 2078.

Authors note

This is probably my most technically demanding short story. If you don't know anything about quantum physics this may be a tough read, especially trying to understand the inner monologues of some characters as they work through the implications of the strange quantum “experiments” in this story.

I would strongly suggest watching this video as a little primer on quantum mechanics. The video then also goes on to cover the “quantum suicide” thought experiment. After that you will at least have the fundamental ideas that are used to frame this tale of terror.

Don't worry if you don't understand quantum mechanics, no one does. But don't trust me on that, listen to Neils Bohr:

"If someone says that he can think or talk about quantum physics without becoming dizzy, that shows only that he has not understood anything whatever about it"

Niels Bohr
