“Quantum mechanics is certainly imposing. But an inner voice tells me that it is not yet the real thing. The theory says a lot, but does not really bring us any closer to the secret of the 'old one.' I, at any rate, am convinced that He does not throw dice.”

Albert Einstein in his letter to Max Born

Micheal just landed his dream PhD place with a famous (and OMG so handsome!) supervisor. Then he reads about another one of these strange cases, cases of Quantum Suicide.

Authors note

This is probably my most technically demanding short story. If you don't know anything about quantum physics this may be a tough read, especially trying to understand the inner monologues of some characters as they work through the implications of the strange quantum “experiments” in this story.

I would strongly suggest watching this video as a little primer on quantum mechanics. The video then also goes on to cover the “quantum suicide” thought experiment. After that you will at least have the fundamental ideas that are used to frame this tale of terror.

Don't worry if you don't understand quantum mechanics, no one does.
