Beyond steroids, learn to biohack your whole system

TNation's Jim Davies interviews the mad scientist Luke Williamson

Oct 2076

Welcome to TNation Luke, we had you on once or twice before I think. Looking huge bro and past 40 now plus still competing in strongman as well. You got to let us into the secrets of the mad scientist. What's this biohacking thing all about?

Thanks Jim. Glad to be back. Yeah 42 years young now and I'm still getting stronger. Not like I'm a world class strength athlete or anything but I was a fat overstressed office worker just 6 years ago. I think the big shift from being a tren laden bodybuilding bro to a true biohacker is to take direct control of your entire biochemistry.

Ok cool bro, yeah I think you qualified for Britain's in the 105kg class so going from office slob to at least a national level athlete in 6 years is phenomenal. So talk to me about how you control your biochemistry, us old school gym bros just know needles and pills.

Thanks man, yeah its been a ride and for strength in particular, yes, the androgens help a lot, but actually its recovery peptides that really help you grow and recover or assist in tendon thickening or bone density growth. It's called the musculoskeletal system for a reason, it's all interconnected, stronger bones mean deeper tendon insertions which means more force transmitted by the muscles. Biohacking is about understanding systems, not just maxing out the Tren.

That's killer, so for an old timer like me how do you do that?

The first huge breakthrough was real-time biofeedback. I have a cyber monitoring system implanted into me that keeps me updated. (Luke taps his cyber eye) of my blood hormone levels, peptides, blood pressure, stroke volume, amino acids, blood sugars etc. For everyone else its guesswork, does your anabolic window matter? For this guy yeah, for him maybe not so much. I know exactly when to dose everything and have real time feedback on the results.

Dude that's the dream. No more guesswork, just live data on all your workouts and diet and everything, amazing. So you have to walk around with a whole pharmacy 24/7 Rich Pianna style then?

Ha, no I like to think I have maybe a bit more self control than Rich, RIP, maybe. Although being a ripped dude with perfect control of his hormones in his 40s and with time on his hands. What can I say, polyamory is fucking great man.

Ha! My man. Get this dude a drink of water.

So yeah aside from having a Rich like thirst, I manage the hormones, peptides and other biochemical processes much more directly. This is step 2. I have a novel organ, a biohacking organ, that is lab grown from my own stem cells and then inserted into me close to where they took out my appendix. It manufactures peptides and hormones inside my own body.

No fucking way. That's like space marine shit right there, no wonder you look like Henry Cavil man.

Ha, thanks. Yeah, so dosages come right down, the hormone profiles in particular match the natural male day/night cycle, no sleep disruption, no ultra heavy synthetic androgens like Trenbolone with nasty sides. All the short action peptides can be manufactured in the body and released as needed. Doses of those come down and the feedback cycle can be exactly monitored.

Wow, so you are doing all the peptides too?

Yeah mechano growth factors, IGF rather than pure growth as I can again stimulate my own bodies release of key peptides and hormones. Follostatin is huge too, Eddie Hall showed us all how big an effect taking the cap off muscle growth can be for strength athletes.

Yeah dude and those Mice. Huge traps, like you brother.

Thanks yeah, Dr Traps is a name I have heard before. I'm phenotypically a high responder in that area.

Pheno what?

Oh sorry, I'm a biologist, degrees in biochemistry up to PhD. I use the technically correct terms where I can, when the gym bros say genetics they are actually talking about the interaction of genetics and your environment which we call phenotype. My training, diet and environment plus my genes made me have big traps, not just my genes.

Oh OK sure, ah so we got that wrong all those years, like the whole industry?

Pretty much yeah. Aside from the strength stuff I also use nootropics for the mind and well a few other fun ones. PT 141 is an absolute must if you have three girlfriends on the go. Got a date later with manic pixie metal chick, can't wait, shes special that one, I'm sure it will go great.

Dude I think you need a different magazine for that stuff (but tell me later!) We are nearly out of time. You got any advice for guys getting into this stuff?

Yeah do your research, in fact more than that, go get a biochemistry degree first. You get pretty good results the old school way and with proper guidance and care you can minimize the health risks. But, if you want to play with the big dogs and become a true biohacker, you got to learn about it. I'm still learning new things every day, I read the primary research and adjust things all the time. Biological systems are like dimmer switches; they offer smooth gradients of control but you have to understand what you are doing.
