We do not fully understand artificial intelligence (AI) tools, as a statistician and biologist I find this appalling. I consider the current generation of AI tools to be poorly understood over-optimized over-fitting machines. They are not knowledge engines. They are not research tools for creative purposes, they are the opposite of that, they are regression to the mean writ large, they are the death of knowledge and the end of creativity. I will not willingly support their use in creative pursuits. Every time one is used an artist, a creative and a writer is not getting work. Even if you would not have paid for a service you are training and optimizing a tool explicitly designed to end human creativity. I will not support this industry, not as it stands without significant improvements in both understanding and AI alignment research.

These are my solemn vows and my core values around the us of AI in my work:

  • No AI will be used ever in the creation of my work.

  • No AI assisted search engines are use for research purposes.

  • Original quotes and human edited and written articles will be used for all research purposes.

  • I will exclusively use human creators for additional support including art and music.

  • My work will not be available to train AI systems, to do so is a breach of my creative commons license and I will pursue legal action against corporations and individuals that do so.

Until man and machine are better aligned no abominable intelligence will be used in my work
